Mini Mold Making

This is a short tutorial of how to make a plaster mold of silicone objects. This is perfect for mermaids and freedivers that like to make silicone wearable art for crafts or cosplay! Of course, Mermaid Andrina made some mistakes along the way (so you don’t have to!).

Supplies needed:

  • recyclable plastic container

  • plaster (hydrocal) (amount depends on object)

  • water

  • Stir stick

  • cups

What to watch out for:

  • whether the object has enough room before it hits the walls of the container

  • if the object begins to float

  • wear a mask if the dust of the plaster is too much!

  • caking when mixing plaster is a great sign!

If you make any mistakes, its okay! Plaster is generally flexible with time, but do be aware of the safety and measuring required for your object. There is more on mixing ratios, brands of products, and pouring the actual starfish earrings by mixing and pouring silicone coming in the online program - Mermaid Warrior Circle.
